It is the start of a new drive by Breathe Easy Causeway and the British Lung Foundation to help make patients in the more isolated rural areas better aware of the Health Service and expert advice available to those people battling chronic breathing disorders.

This is a major health issue, according to Breathe Easy chairperson, Marie Hegarty.

“One person in five in the United Kingdom is affected by lung disorders,” says Marie. “Millions more are at risk. We are here for everyone of them, whatever their condition”.

The “Big Breakfast” will be a broad-based local community affair. Invites will be going out to Moyle, Coleraine and Ballymoney Councils.

A big effort is also being made to involve local churches, schools, business and sports groups, as well as the National Trust.

“Indeed, everyone is welcome,” said Marie Hegarty.

Sandra Hunter, Chairperson of Moyle District Council, said;”We are pleased to play our part in this major effort being made to spread information on good lung health to the Rural areas.”

Nessie Blair MBE, the Northern Ireland BLF Development Officer, said: “Breathe Easy Groups make up our local support network.

“They provide a community of friends who understand what it is like to live with a lung condition. We are delighted to give our support and guidance to Breathe Easy Causeway in this exciting awareness drive”.
