Barazina to star at Belfast lights switch-on

The local performers will be on stage in front of thousands of people at the big Belfast switch-on at City Hall.

Barazina Youth Choir was formed just over a year ago in September 2011, comprising over 40 young people (aged 7-14) from 28 schools within the north coast area.

Barazina means ‘Creative Abundance’ and these young people are bursting with talent, energy and creativity.

Said Denise Rosborough, director of the Barazina choir: “We were thrilled to sing at Ballymoney switch on last Christmas and now this year are really looking forward to performing at the Belfast Christmas Switch on!”

Also in Belfast, a group of musical primates will be adding some zing to this year’s festive celebrations at City Hall.

The ZingZillas of CBeebies fame will help turn on the city’s Christmas lights at the family-themed event on Saturday, November 17.

Zak the gorilla, Panzee the chimp, Tang the orang-utan, and Drum the monkey will be monkeying around on stage alongside Belfast’s very own panto characters. The compere will be Julian Simmons.

This year’s event will be ticketed for the first time. Tickets will be available in advance from the Belfast Welcome Centre from Tuesday November 6. They will be limited to four per person.
