Banbridge is set to ‘light up’

Jingle Bells will be ringing in Banbridge this Yuletide as the town centre gets ready for the countdown to Christmas.

Come and join Santa Claus and his host of happy helpers as they glide into town on his snow covered sleigh to find out who’s been naughty or nice on Friday 27 November for the annual Christmas lights switch on.

The festive fun runs from 7 – 9pm and will include a fabulous mini funfair, wonderful winter workshops and magical musical accompaniment from Gareth Stewart and the Cool FM Crew as well as a traditional Carol Service led by the local Clergy Fellowship.

With the town aglow with Christmas cheer it’s the perfect place to pick up those perfect presents. To add to the festive feeling a colourful collection of performers will be bringing fun and laughter to the streets each Saturday from 1pm – 3pm.

Shoppers will also be entertained by the seasonal sounds of the finest local concert bands from 2.30 – 3.30pm. Details of which are as follows:

Saturday 28 November Banbridge Silver Band; Saturday 5 December Ballykeel Accordion Band; Saturday 12 December Warrenpoint Silver Band; Saturday 19 December Commons Silver Band.

Christmas is also the time for turkey and all the trimmings. The Love Food Hate Waste Demonstration vehicle will be touring the Borough stopping in Banbridge town centre on Saturday 19 December from 10.30am to 2.30pm.

On-board a local chef will be cooking some tasty treats while giving hints and tips about the best ways to use your leftover food to create meals for the whole family. Council officers will be on hand to offer advice about food waste disposal and giving out promotional materials and recipe cards.
