Banbridge man is set to be
sentenced for drug offences

A 20-year-old man will be sentenced next month at Banbridge Magistrates Court for a number of drugs offences.

William McCallum, Millmount Court, Lurgan Road, Banbridge, is charged with possession of cannabis on October 29 last year, possession of Diazepam, possession of Diazepam with intent to supply and possessing a firework without a licence.

He pleaded guilty to all of the charges and the case was adjourned until May 21 so that a pre-sentence report can be prepared.

McCallum told the court, through his barrister, that he would like the offences dealt with on the day.

But District Judge, Mr Paul Copeland, said he had been convicted of serious offences which may cross the custody threshold.

He said it was in the defendant’s interest that a report is prepared.
