Upper Bann MLA Carla Lockhart recently hosted a group from Banbridge on a tour of Stormont.

The group led by Banbridge man Stuart Magill had a tour of the building and learned of the history of Stormont and had the opportunity to sit in the Assembly chamber.

Since becoming an MLA the Upper Bann representative has hosted many groups from the constituency and believes it is important to always engage with constituents locally but also for them to visit the Assembly.

Speaking after the visit Carla Lockhart said: “It is always a pleasure to bring people from the constituency to Stormont. It holds so much history and the tour is very informative. I have been engaging with a lot of groups in Banbridge and was delighted to welcome Stuart and friends. It is disappointing that we do not currently have an administration up and running at Stormont. The DUP are committed to that and we want to see others step up to their responsibilities and see the real issues like health, education and the economy given the attention and finances they require.

“This was an opportunity for residents to raise issues, concerns and hold me as their elected representative to account. The focus remains delivery for Banbridge and it is safe to say the people in attendance support any work to advance Banbridge and to build one educating grass roots about our culture and heritage.”
