A Banbridge family were thrilled to win tickets to see the new Christmas show ‘The Ugly Duckling’ at the Mac Theatre in Belfast.

The local family were one of just five who won family tickets through Libraries NI for the new show, which stars Lisburn actor Rea Campbell.

Last month five ‘lucky feathers’ were hidden in books in local libraries and whoever found a feather would win tickets for the festive show.

The Walker family - parents, Alison and Jonathan, and children, Anna (4) and Luke (10) – won their tickets to the eagerly-awaited Christmas family show in the exciting ‘Lucky Feather’ competition, launched by the MAC last month in partnership with Libraries NI.

The initiative saw 500 Lucky Feathers placed in children’s books in 53 public libraries throughout Northern Ireland, with those finding the feathers answering a question related to HATCH! Adventures of the Ugly Duck and entering into a prize draw.

There were five family tickets (two adults and two children) and 10 pairs of tickets up for grabs, as well as a range of HATCH! merchandise.

The Walker family went to the MAC to see HATCH! during its opening week and thoroughly enjoyed what is a hilarious and entertaining adaption of the well-known story of the Ugly Duckling.

A laugh-out-loud sing-along for all the family to enjoy, the show opened at the Belfast city centre venue on December 4 and runs until January 5.

For further information about the show or to book tickets, priced from £9.50, visit or contact the Box Office on 9023 5053.
