Ban for Bushmills man

A NEWSPAPER courier from Bushmills has been banned from driving for a month and fined a total of £250 for driving related offences.

Darren Parke (33), of Ballyness Park, was spotted by police on February 27 last year contravening a traffic sign at Frocess Road near Ballymoney.

A defence lawyer said it was a “silly piece of driving” after his client became frustrated behind a slow moving line of traffic.

But police were also on the road and noticed the manoeuvre.

The defendant was requested to produce a goods vehicle test certificate at a police station but failed to do with within seven days.

Eleven points will remain on his licence, North Antrim Magistrates Court in Coleraine was told on Wednesday of last week.

District Judge Richard Wilson told Parke: “You get somebody else to drive for a month and don’t be back.”
