Ballysally homes to get new kitchens

MORE than 120 homes in Coleraine’s Ballysally estate are to get new kitchens - thanks to the Housing Executive.

The £670,000 contract is the second phase of a programme to replace original kitchens in homes in the Ballygallin and Elms Park area.

Coleraine District Manager Gerry McCloskey welcomed this significant investment.

He said: “The new kitchens going into these Ballysally homes are designed for modern living.

“Tenants can select finishes for the kitchen units, work surfaces and tiles from a range of options to suit their personal taste.

“In the course of the work we will be upgrading electrical and plumbing services to cater for modern kitchen appliances. We will also use the opportunity to install or upgrade smoke detectors as necessary.”

The contractor carrying out the upgrades will be Dixons Limited.

Mr McCloskey went on to explain: “Dixons’ staff have wide experience in installing kitchens in Housing Executive properties, including homes in the Coleraine District.

“Representatives from Dixons’ liaise with residents and the Housing Executive from the outset of each scheme, through the planning stages to carrying out the work and when it is completed. By doing so, residents are kept fully aware of plans for their homes and of the standards set and expected for this work.

“This £0.67million Housing Executive investment is a clear signal in practical terms of our ongoing commitment to our tenants in Ballysally where we continue to work with the local community and others for the benefit of all.”
