He was also sentenced to two months for criminal damage to a laptop.

The court heard that on May 3 this year police received a 999 call from a foreign female who was crying.

They went to see her and she said that her partner, the defendant, had assaulted her and her four year old daughter.

There was swelling to the injured party’s face and an ambulance was called but there was no requirement for her to go to hospital.

Januska was arrested and taken to Lurgan custody suite.

The following day the injured party made a statement. In it she said she lived with the defendant, her sister and four-year-old daughter.

On May 3 the defendant and two male friends had gone out and returned to the house intoxicated.

They were very loud and the daughter was very frightened. The defendant came upstairs where the daughter was sitting on her mother’s knee. The daughter said: “Don’t beat my mum.”

The defendant flicked the daughter’s forehead with his fingers and slapped her face on the side of the head. She began crying.

The mother shouted at the defendant and he slapped her. She was extremely emotional throughout when she was making her statement.

The criminal damage charge related to a laptop which he opened fully and smashed it over his knee.

A two year restraining order was also put into place banning him from intimidating, harassing or pestering the injured party and
the child.
