TEMPLE Art Group is holding their first annual exhibition and sale of fine art and photography in June 2012.
This enthusiastic, productive and friendly group consists of 10 artists who are members of the local community in and around the hamlet of Temple, County Down. Some of the members have formal art training and qualifications, and others are self-taught.
A sample of the works can be viewed at the Group website, www.templeartgroup.com or at the group facebook page, www.facebook.com/TempleArtGroup.
The venue for the exhibition is The Studio, Temple Shopping Centre, 108 Carryduff Road, Temple, County Down. This is a first floor studio gallery above McBride’s Fashions.
Opening night will be on Thursday June 7, from 6.30pm – 9.30pm. Entrance is free and refreshments will be provided. Thereafter, the exhibition will be open at selected times until Saturday June 16. See attached flyer for details.
As well as exhibiting their own work, the group have had a good response to their ‘Call for Artists’. Indeed it turns out there are a number of established artists living in or near Temple who are now taking part.
These include Felicity Straker Graham, who just last month won the Royal Society of Ulster Architects Award for art in a new building for her large porcelain installation in the foyer of the new Public Records Office in Titanic Quarter. Felicity will, among other pieces, be exhibiting some small framed porcelain works.
There will also be a selection of local landscape photographs by John Lynch, who last month was shortlisted for the British Institute of Professional photographers (NI) awards.
Another local resident who has joined the group is Christene Trueman, a popular and well known artist in the Belfast art scene.
Overall, the exhibition will be a lively mix of novice and established artists, with works in various aesthetic styles and media, including watercolour, acrylic, graphite, pastels, pen and ink, charcoal and porcelain.
At present, we have about 80 works to hang, including original paintings and drawings, photographs and limited edition signed Giclee prints. There will also be a selection of fine art Giclee greeting cards.
