Arrests following drugs seizures

Banbridge police have said that they will continue to tackle drugs activity following three seizures in Banbridge and Gilford.

A 34-year-old male was arrested on suspicion of possession of Class B drugs and possession of Class B drugs with intent to supply after drugs were seized at High Street in Gilford on Tuesday, April 29. He was later released on bail pending further enquiries. Two mobile phones and other drugs paraphernalia were also recovered.

During searches in the Highfield Gardens area on Wednesday, April 30 a quantity of suspected Class A and B drugs were seized. A 45-year-old female was arrested and later released on bail pending further enquiries.

Police on patrol in the Hillhead Park area on Wednesday afternoon, April 30, observed three males acting suspiciously. One of the males was searched and found to be in possession of suspected cannabis. The 19-year-old will be reported to the PPS.

Inspector Nigel Graham, Banbridge Response and Neighbourhood, said: “We are intent on tackling drugs in the Banbridge area and we are sending a clear message to anyone who deals or uses drugs - there is no hiding place.

“We will continue to act on information and conduct searches and do everything in our power to remove drugs from our communities.”
