People have been missing out on benefits for a variety of reasons - it could be that you don’t think you’re eligible, or you feel you’ve enough to get by on or a recent change in your circumstances means you are now entitled to help.

You may be caring for someone who needs support because of their age, illness or disability.

One example of people who benefited from ‘Making the Call’ is a couple in their 80’s who both have some health problems and care for one another. They were struggling to pay their household bills.

They were already receiving benefits including Pension Credit and Attendance Allowance and didn’t think they would be entitled to more.

An assessment by a Benefit Adviser meant the husband’s Pension Credit increased by £190.60 a week and receives £81.30 a week in Attendance Allowance. The couple were also entitled to Carer’s Allowance for looking after each other.

Ring the Benefits Advice Line on 0800 232 1271, Monday to Friday from 9am-5pm.
