Shanice Amy Mulready, Railway Street, Banbridge, was ordered to do 100 hours community service and put on probation for two years.

The first series of offences were on September 1 and September 9 last year when she stole goods valued at £210 from Donaghy’s, items worth £110 from Houston’s, £25 worth of goods from Crory’s Menswear, went equipped for theft with a magnet and caused criminal damage.

She also admitted seven theft charges which took place in October and November of last year.

Mulready pleaded guilty to the theft of four wrist watches, two walkie talkies, one men’s jacket, two blue tooth head sets to the total value of £122.90 from Lidl on February 27 this year.

Her final series of offences took place on March 23 this year when she committed five thefts.

She stole Yankee Candles, a picture frame and a cuddly toy, total value £212.69, from Card Cave, 70 items worth £98 from Poundland, a candle worth £25 from Card Factory, clothes valued at £118.93 from New Look and household items worth £32.07 from Supervalu.

A barrister representing the defendant that she had been in custody since February 27 but was released on bail and on the day of her release re-offended and was put back in custody.

He explained that she was in a relationship with a person who was known to the court and she accepted she had an addiction to cannabis.

The lawyer added that she now looked much healthier having been ‘clean’ for the last three months.

He said she now understood that if there was any further offending she could expect a period of custody.

District Judge, Mr Paul Copeland, said it was ‘an appalling catalogue of offences’.
