Amy to guest judge '˜Slane Does Strictly'

Amy, 18, has been dancing from five years old and has danced many styles from ballroom and Latin American, hip hop, line dancing to modern, lyrical and ballet.

“I am so excited to have been asked to judge the Slane Strictly competition,” she said. “It will be a great night, full of fun and it’s wonderful to be supporting a great family football club and also helping a local family at the same time.

“I have gained distinctions in all major ballet class examinations and at the age of 15 I was accepted into ballet school in Scotland to train full time due to start after GCSEs,” she said.

“Unfortunately I was diagnosed with leukaemia and so my dance plans were put on hold. I had six months of chemo and was in remission. But unfortunately I relapsed five months after and my best option was to have a bone marrow transplant.

“I underwent an extremely intense round of chemo to gain remission and then radiotherapy and chemo in preparation for my bone marrow transplant in November 2014. I was very lucky to have a sibling match, Gemma my youngest sister was my donor. Despite the illness I continued to dance.

“I completed an advanced ballet grade, performed a lead solo role in Sleeping Beauty Ballet in the Grand Opera House and continued competing in local competitions. I am now in training to become a dance teacher.

Tickets cost £15 and £1 of each ticket is going to the Emily Morrison Fund. You will also be able to contribute to Emily’s fund on the night with a live auction prize.
