Academy pupils get the boot from Action MS

The school was awarded the ‘Bronze Boot’ for being the school that raised the most amount of money last year.

All of Banbridge Academy’s pupils in Years 8, 9 and 10 travelled the short distance to Lurgan Park last May to participate in the Action MS sponsored walk.

In the following weeks, the money came pouring in and the school raised the fantastic total of £9350 for this worthwhile cause.

Action MS was delighted with this effort and invited those pupils who collected £100 or more to their Annual Awards Luncheon in the Ramada Hotel on Wednesday January 14. Unfortunately, Year 10 pupils Catherine Duffin, Harrison Nicholl, Kate Shields, Emma Thompson and also Patrick McClean from Year 11 were taking exams that day and were therefore unable to attend. Year 9 pupils Jemma Clarke, Joel Cromie, Zara McCracken and James Smith were more fortunate and accompanied Mr McLoughlin, Mr Pollock and Mrs Leslie to the ceremony in Belfast.

Cool FM DJ Connor Phillips distributed the awards and the Academy was delighted to once again receive the Bronze Boot as the top fundraising school in Northern Ireland. This is the seventh time Banbridge Academy has won this coveted award and we are already looking forward to taking part in the walk again in May 2016.
