Very different sale at McAfee Auctions

McAFEE Auctions have a very different sale this Thursday.

Not only have they a sale of fine furnishings but there are two vintage cars, a MK2 Jaguar Car and a Triumph Vitesse, a selection of pony trap, including a jaunting car and lots of good harness, other equestrian related items, garden furniture, and tools.

The estate sale which takes place from 7.00pm are the contents of 41 Semicock Road, Ballymoney and the auctioneers are drawing note to the fact that the furnishings and effects, and all other lots of a very high standard, and are highly recommending viewing.

  Not only does the sale include approximately 300 lots of fine and general furnishings, but also a collection of pony traps and donkey carts and lots of harness, but also a 1964 MK 2 Jaguar, and a 1967 Triumph Vitesse, together with a selection of garden statuary, gardening and other outside lots.

  Among the many pieces of fine furnishings, are a very good quality two door glazed display cabinet, a nice sized inlaid two door small cabinet, mahogany davenport, mahogany hall table, eight piece drawing room suite, an upholstered and an oak framed three piece suite, occasional pieces of furniture, chairs and other smaller pieces of furniture.

  Collectibles include a good selection and variety of Waterford and Tyrone crystal, doulton and Hummel figurines, a selection of tea sets, dinner sets, canteen of cutlery, Beswick and other figurines of horses, dogs and other ornaments, a bronze figurine of a dog, collectors plates etc.

  Among the other furnishings is a very good mahogany cased double weight Vienna clock, a grand daughter clock, open bookshelves, a music box, a really good Corinthian pillar oil lamp and many other nice collectibles.

  Outside will really appeal to the equestrian minded, with approximately 50 lots of harness, a very good jaunting car, tub cart, road cart and two other carts, and there are two donkey carts as well.

  For the car enthusiast there is a really good 1964 3.2 MK2 Jaguar in really good condition, with less than 100,000 miles, and a small Triumph Vitesse convertible with only 23,306 miles.  There is also a good selection of other equestrian related items, outside lots, garden furniture, lawnmowers, tools etc, etc.

  As the sale is a complete house clearance their are also household electrics, bedroom furniture, kitchen table and chair set, rugs, pictures etc. 

One of the pictures of particular note is an oil ‘Dan Patrol’ by the late Rev W J Watson, another is a still life by Lorraine Christie and another, an oil by Hugh McIlfatrick.

 “It is a really interesting sale”, says auctioneer Gerry MccAfee ‘with a real mix of quality items on offer’.

  Viewing commences on Tuesday and Wednesday from 3.00pm to 5.00pm and 7.00 to 8.30pm and day of sale from 4.00 to 6.45pm, after which the sale will commence by catalogue and screen in McAfee Auctions premises on Main Street, Ballymoney (approached by Castle Street Car Park).
