Dromore’s Harry Ferguson Celebration Committee is ready to roll with this year’s Charity Tractor Road Run.
The event will hit the roads in what organisers call ‘Ferguson country’ this coming Friday, August 14 and all types of tractor are welcome.
Annually dedicated to raising funds for a worthy cause, this year’s run will see proceeds ploughed into the work of the Alzheimer’s Society.
“This worthy cause involves a condition that we are very much aware of,” a committee spokesman said, “and funds raised on the night should help bring about successful research in terms of combating the illness.”
The committee hopes to repeat the success of last year, when almost 100 tractors lined out along the route.
That route has been altered slightly, though the starting point remains Ballykeel Baptist Church car park, where those taking part will assemble for departure at 7.30pm sharp.
From there the route will take them into Magherconluce Road, to pass the Harry Ferguson Memorial Garden at Growell, continuing left into Ballylintagh Road, left into Magheraconluce Lane, right into Drumlough Road, on to Spence’s crossroads, straight across, still on Drumlough Road, and right into Clougher Road. From there it’s left into Edenticullo Roadd and left at the end into Dromara Road for the return to Ballykeel church.
“We apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused on the roads,” the spokesman said, “but we purposely keep off main routes as much as possible. Police and marshalls will be in place to assist traffic.” Upon return to the car park a barbecue will be provided.
“We have no charge to attend this event but we hope you will support the charity,” the spokesperson said. “We the committee thank all entries and spectators who support us and charities each every year.”
