Alfie Stewart, the former Portadown and Glentoran footballer, will be speaking about his life was transformed when he became a Christian.

Alfie was born and brought up in Maghera in County Londonderry, and growing up his life was centred around football.

This led to him going on to have an Irish League career with Glentoran and most notably Portadown, where he was an influential figure in the finest period in the club’s history.

Growing up he also viewed himself as a Protestant, but it was a Protestantism in name only, because he spent very little time in church, or in Sunday School. In his teens he lived a life centred around worldly matters of alcohol, and partying, and shunned all invitations to go along to church.

However, the Lord placed many people in his life to guide him and show him of his need to be saved.

Alfie will speak about all of this on Tuesday night as he gives his testimony at the regular monthly meeting of the Loughbrickland Black Evangelical Fellowship.

It is a testimony worth hearing by both young and old, as it relates to so many of us.

The special guest soloist at the meeting will be the well know Gospel singer Lynda Lindsay from County Fermanagh.

Lynda is one of the Province’s top Gospel singers, and has taken part in many of the main Gospel events right across Northern Ireland.

The meeting will take place at 8pm in the Sir Henry Wilson Memorial Orange Hall, Loughbrickland, and is open to men and women of all ages.
