Grace supports cancer campaign

The breast cancer survivor had her illness detected by the Big Bus mobile screening unit in 2008 and has since given her name to the campaign to tell others it saved her life.

McPolin’s SuperValu Banbridge has joined other SuperValu stores across Northern Ireland in displaying posters featuring Ms McCart.

Grace said she had been through an incredibly difficult time receiving treatment for her breast cancer. “Losing my hair was very difficult as well, as for a woman it is very much part of your identity and who you are.

“But my hair is starting to grow back and it’s thicker than ever. I try to look at the positives in things now. Cancer turned my world

upside but it also taught me what is important and I make every day count now.”

In an effort to encourage shoppers to make use of the life-saving Big Bus when it is in their local community setting, SuperValu has brought its award-winning corporate responsibility partnership with the local charity in-store and the posters are at highly visible locations in all of Northern Ireland’s 40 SuperValu outlets.

The Action Cancer Big Bus was launched in 2006 and over the past four years SuperValu has donated £900,000 to the service. Around 20,000 people have used the unit at over 750 locations, including local companies and community groups since its launch. The new SuperValu posters also urge businesses and groups to book the Big Bus service.
