Parents to protest over autism provision

PARENTS will gather at the gates of St Mary’s PS this Thursday morning in protest at the lack of funding being made available for autism provision at the school.

It is understood the long-running issue regarding the need for specialist provision at the school catering for the needs of autistic children has come to a head after two meetings with the Southern Education and Library Board were cancelled.

The Southern Trust is thought to have indicated they would provide half the funding if the SELB matched this - but no agreement has been reached after the board cancelled both planned meetings.

No-one from the Board was available for comment yesterday (Monday).
