A Lyttle donation to Donard’s Disney fund

DONARD School’s Disney trip fund is set to get a Lyttle bigger as a local musician - and uncle of one of the nursery pupils - donates proceeds from the sale of his new CD.

David Lyttle released his album “Interlude” last week and, from today (Tuesday) until March 6, will donate £2 from the sale of each CD sold on www.davidlyttle.com to the school’s fundraising for the May trip.

The well-known musician who has been busy writing, recording and producing his new album - a soulful and chilled-out mix of hiphop and urban music - said he is delighted to be able to help with the school in preparation for their trip.

David, who comes from a musical background and will release an album with his family band later this year, said his three-year-old niece Laura is one of his biggest fans.

“Laura has Downs Syndrome and has attended Donard Nursery since September,” said David. “She is really enjoying all the school has to offer so far. I am only too happy to be able to support the school in their efforts to bring some of the children to Disneyland. Aand, even though Amy won’t be travelling to Paris, some of the funds will be used to ensure the pupils remaining in the school will enjoy some treats too.”

And, having had a sneak preview of the album, David said Amy is his biggest fan. “She loves it,” he laughed. “My mum and sister make guest appearances on the album and Amy loves to hear her nanny and auntie.”

David said he can’t remember a time when he couldn’t play a musical instrument, having gone professional aged just four. The musician has travelled to America with the Lyttle Family - his four siblings, mum Anne and father Eric, who passed away suddenly 12 years ago due to a heart condition.

“Music is, in a way, all I’ve ever known and it’s something I love,” he said. “After the death of my father things were difficult but music was so ingrained in me that it was never a case that we weren’t going to play again. We travelled to America a year after and it was a different experience - a kind of new era for the family.”

David, who is jet-setting across the UK to publicise his new album, is also looking forward to the release of the family’s first full album in recent years.

Anyone who wishes to buy a copy of Interlude can do so from www.davidlyttle.com - between now and March 6 £2 from the sale of each copy will go to Donard’s Disney fund.
