Charity helps women on road to essential skills

DROMORE charity Via Wings has helped a group of young women gain some essential skills after joining forces with the Southern Regional College.

Via Wings approached SRC to deliver a Level Two Essential Skills Literacy qualification, in line with its own aims of helping young women by providing counselling, help, advice and a route to qualifications.

SRC tutor Peter Clarke taught the students, who each had an opportunity to present a short talk for four minutes as part of their course.

“This helped the self-esteem and confidence of each individual concerned,” a spokesperson said. “Most of the women who took part in the course have now progressed to the Level Two Essential Skills Numeracy course, also in conjunction with Southern Regional College.”
