Academy’s pupils are top of the class
THIS year’s A-Level results have seen yet another success story at Banbridge Academy with a 99 per cent pass rate at the school.
Over a quarter of all pupils sitting their exams achieved three As or better and in total A* and A grades amount to almost half of the school’s results.
Headmaster, Raymond Pollock, said that the results were down to a lot of hard work from teachers, pupils and parents alike.
“We are delighted with this year’s impressive examinations results which once again are in line with the very high standard of recent years and well ahead of the national average,” he said.
“With a pass rate of 99% the results reveal a strength in depth which enables our pupils to progress to the next stage in their careers.”
He added, “187 pupils sat A-Level examinations this year and of that number 50 students obtained three Grade As or better, with 16 pupils scoring four A*/A grades. Matthew Knox and Andrew Bronte each secured 4 A*s.
“Taken together A*and A grades accounted for 47.7% of all grades awarded and when B grades are included, well over three quarters of all grades, 76.5%, were either A*,A or B.
“At a time of increased competition for University places, resulting in steadily climbing entrance requirements it is reassuring to see that over 80% of our pupils achieved a minimum of 3 A levels with Grades in the top range A*- C.”
Wishing pupils well as they leave the school to take the next step on their career journey, he said, “We are very proud of our pupils and we applaud their outstanding achievements.
“These results could not have been obtained without the hard work and skill of the teaching staff in the Academy whose consistent and committed professional approach has undoubtedly enabled our pupils to succeed. Parents too are to be commended for the support and encouragement they have offered, both to the pupils and the school, throughout this period of intense pressure.”
