Time running out for Tesco decision

A FUTURE for Tesco at Bridgewater Park hung in the balance last night (Monday) as the deadline for a decision by Edwin Poots, the current Minister for the Environment, draws near.

Unless a meeting is called and a decision made by tomorrow (Wednesday), the current application will roll on until after the May election.

If that is the case any decision taken could be made by a new Environment Minister appointed after the Stormont Assembly election on May 5.

Developers submitted an application last year reducing the store’s originally proposed size by 20 per cent.

That followed an initial refusal to allow a 130,000ft store to go ahead near the Outlet and a failed appeal of that decision.
