Mobile customers left with no signal

MOBILE phone company O2 has pledged to solve the network problems that have left customers struggling to send and receive texts and phonecalls recently.

Many phone users have complained of poor reception and network coverage in the area lately and a spokeswoman for the company said they would work to rectify the problems.

The woman admitted investigations on Friday morning had not uncovered any problems, but said the investigations will continue until they find the root cause of the issues.

The woman said, “We are aware that some O2 customers in the Banbridge area are reporting that they are experiencing issues with the O2 network.

“Our preliminary investigations on Friday showed no problems with this site. Clearly this is not the experience of the people who have contacted your paper, so I have asked a senior manager in our network management centre to look into this further to try to understand what can have gone wrong.”

One man told the Leader he had to send a message to himself in order to receive a backlog of texts that he had failed to receive last week. “It’s just not good enough really,” he said. “When you’re paying your bill you expect to be able to use your phone properly without these sorts of problems.”
