Hailing from Banbridge, Jordan studied his undergraduate degree at Ulster so the university was his first choice when he decided to return to study with an MBA.

For Jordan, a Masters in Business Administration was the key to advancing his career and learning the skills to be able to start and grow a business: “This course has been a perfect fit for me. The modules included cover the exact areas I felt I was lacking in, so for me it was a no-brainer to go with this course especially given the prestigious reputation of having an MBA.”

Reflecting on his experience of studying at Ulster Jordan commented: “As I studied my undergraduate course at Ulster, I knew what a great university it was and the fact that the business school is ranked seventh out of 101 universities in the UK confirmed my original thoughts. I couldn’t recommend the university highly enough as it provided me with a great blend of both practical and academic learning delivered in a fun and engaging manner.”

Before starting his MBA, Jordan made the decision to leave all employment and focus solely on his course with the aim of learning as much as he could and attaining a distinction. His decision paid off as he achieved a 79% average to graduate with distinction.

Jordan is now employed as the Territory Manager of Uber Eats in Northern Ireland, where he is responsible for actively managing and developing a client base of over 170 restaurants across Northern Ireland.

He continued: “As the company is very much still in its start-up phase it has given me a great exposure to what it’s like to develop a business from its early stages which is exactly what I wanted to pursue after completing my MBA.”

To secure his current position with Uber Eats, Jordan had to go through a rigorous application process, including a phone interview, an online assessment with other candidates and finally, a two hour interview and presentation, which focused on complex company issues and how to solve them. Discussing this process, Jordan added: “The knowledge I gained through completing my MBA was invaluable in helping me prepare for the interview, as I found myself looking back at accounting, marketing and strategy notes that I had taken during class. In the same week as the recruitment process I had to hand my thesis in, so by the end of the week I was both physically and mentally exhausted but it was very much worth it!”
