Beat the Recession roadshow is coming to Banbridge

A ‘Beat the Recession’ roadshow is coming to Banbridge on Friday, March 25, when anyone feeling ‘the pinch’ can drop in for information and advice.

The roadshow is organised by Citizens Advice in partnership with Advice NI and the Law Centre and is funded by the Big Lottery.

“Our aim is to reach out to help those locally who have been affected by the recession through reduced income or benefits or through losing their job,” said Rachael Cray from Citizens Advice. “The roadshow in Banbridge will be based at the local Tesco store and features information talks, redundancy advice and education sessions for anyone who feels they need some help and guidance at a time when so many families are being impacted by the recesssion.”

Rachael said the advice package would support people and families struggling financially because of loss of income and changed circumstances which have come about as a result of the recession.

Several ‘Beat the Recession’ roadshows have already been held in towns across Northern Irealand in various locations, including Tesco stores, libraries, hospitals and markets, with many more planned over the following months.

Advice can also we can given over the telephone and website - www.beattherecession.me - with various self help resources and the option to chat to an adviser on-line or via e-mail.

“Face-to-face appointments can also be arranged and advice given over the telephone, by Skype, or text message,” added Rachael. “Essentially we are trying to reach those people who do not realise free help and information is available. or who would not normally look for help with debt and benefit matters.”
