Banbridge Council to provide risk training

The session will introduce representatives from local community groups to the important topic of risk management. Participants will learn about the benefits of managing risk, how to develop risk management procedures and how to carry out a risk assessment.

As well as learning how to analyse risks, they will develop practical skills to deal with these. Speaking about the session, Council Community Development Officer Robert Stockley said, “Risk identification and management should be built into everything that an organisation does – even those operating in the voluntary and community sector. This training will benefit all groups irrespective of their size or the nature of their work.

“Many groups don’t realise that their insurance does not cover them for all the risks they face. So this highly recommended session presents a good opportunity for local groups to take a fresh look at how they view and address risk.”

It will be delivered by NICVA who has extensive experience of working with the voluntary and community sector and has vast knowledge and expertise in the area of risk management.

The Council is providing this free training as part of its ongoing support to local community groups. A limited number of places are available on this course and places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.

With demand for the workshop expected to be high, a maximum of two places can be booked per group. However, additional names can be put on a reserve list.
