Volunteers for Sunflowerfest

Sunflowerfest is putting out its final call for festival volunteers to help at this year’s event, which runs from August 9-11 at Tubby’s Farm in Hillsborough.

An inclusive music and arts festival for people of all ages, Sunflowerfest 2013 plays host to over 60 music acts, 30 artists, crafts, comedy, poetry, yoga, circus workshops, kids zone and much more.

A range of volunteer roles are up for grabs including festival helpers, festival fixers, stage runners, gardeners, artist accreditation officers and kids zone helpers. Everyone is encouraged to get involved!

Festival Helpers fill in the cracks; they do the details that ensure Sunflowerfest is easy, fun and safe for all attendees. Their role takes them all over the festival site, from the different music arenas and workshop areas to the gates and fire exits, and everywhere in between.

If you have an eye for detail then the role of Festival Fixer may be for you. Fixers ensure the smooth running of Sunflowerfest by setting up, clearing away and securing a wide range of items and equipment.

Stage runners play an important role in keeping the music side of Sunflowerfest running on time. They ensure performers have everything they need to put on the best show on earth, and they get a pretty cool back-stage view of the festival.

Meanwhile, gardeners keep the fields, paths and woodland areas clean and safe for festival-goers across the weekend, while Artist Accreditation officers will greet artists, guests and media to ensure each receive their specific passes.

Kids Zone Helpers make sure Sunflowerfest is a bonanza weekend of fun for families – kids and ‘big kids’ alike. Join in the fun and help make Sunflowerfest the festival you want it to be.

Festival Fairies are also required to help soothe patrons on their way through the festival weekend. They will welcome and chat, entertain, explain and help thousands of people around the festival site. If you enjoy dressing up and calming down then this could be the role for you.

Magicians, circus performers, clowns, acrobats, and anyone with a unique and quirky talent they want to share with people are also invited to get in touch.

Volunteers for Sunflowerfest must be 16 years or older and commit to a minimum of two shifts across the three days, as well as a training session ahead of the festival.

In return you receive full access to the festival site over August 9-11 to enjoy a wide range of music, arts and fun. All volunteers get free meal and drinks vouchers during their shifts and are entitled to free campsite access, meaning you can camp for the whole weekend.

Volunteering is also great CV building, and you will gain an insight into the running of a festival and develop a range of skills you can put to use long after the event ends.
