The tenor has always been a strong supporter of unsigned local artists and choirs, especially after being a judge on the BBC prime time show Last Choir Standing. The series saw around 60 amateur choirs competing each week to be the `Last Choir Standing.` Russell enjoyed being part of the show immensely and as a result, expressed his wishes to have a local choir accompany him on his Up Close & Personal tour of 79 UK and Ireland dates.

“I love being accompanied by choirs and the energy and excitement they bring. I am really looking forward to this tour and feel that a local choir will be the perfect addition to the evening.” (Russell Watson)

The tour is now half way through, and the reaction from choirs who have already participated has been phenomenal, with many of them requesting to perform at further shows.

The choir should be aged 18+ and made up of 30 - 40 people, either mixed or single sexed (soprano / alto / tenor / bass –SATB; soprano / soprano / alto – SSA; tenor / tenor / bass / bass - TTBB). They will be required to accompany Russell on 5 - 6 songs, which would be shared with them well in advance of the scheduled dates. The list of songs will be advised, but are expected to include Funiculì, Funiculà and You Raise Me Up.
