Sing along to Grease for charity at Iveagh

Shelter NI is hosting a special charity sing-a-long screening of Grease at the Iveagh Movie Studios, Banbridge, on Wednesday, June 26.

The fun starts at 7.30pm and a great night out is promised for those attending.

The night will go some way to providing houses for the 35,000 people in desperate need of a home and is part of Shelter NI’s Self-Help Project.

Anyone who has ever wanted to know what it’s like to be a T-bird or a Pink Lady will have the chance to don those pink jackets, grease up those quiffs and let their inhibitions go for an evening where the audience are the stars. The words to the songs will be right up there on the screen for you to belt out all your favourite Grease tunes!

The event is the latest in Shelter NI’s campaign to raise money for their Self-Help Project, through which they are renovating vacant and derelict properties for housing for people in need.

There are 55,000 vacant properties in Northern Ireland - enough to create the 35,000 new homes that are desperately needed.

The Self-Help Project will help both people in desperate need of housing and generate work and apprenticeships for new and unemployed construction workers by bringing Northern Ireland’s empty properties back into use.

The number of unemployed construction workers in Northern Ireland has doubled in the last four years.

Claire Douglas, Fundraising and Campaign Officer for Shelter NI said: “We initially want to raise £100,000 and will be able to provide a home with every £10,000 we make.

“Help us raise money and combat the NI housing and unemployment crisis by singing-a-long - we’ll teach you to hand jive and have an electrifying time! Get ready for some summer loving!

“Our Grease sing-along will have you bopping in your seats or even dancing in the aisles, there will be prizes on the night for the best dressed T-Bird and Pink Lady as well as a raffle plus some spectacular surprises.”

Tickets are: £6 Adult; £5 Child (£5 groups of 10+) each
