Rave reviews for Black Gold duo

THE Railway Bar was rocking on Saturday night with headline band Black Gold pumping out electric music.

Popular duo Jim Greene and Gerard Halfpenny were in top form strumming out tunes from the Beatles to the Killers.

And the crowds loved it, judging by the dance floor which was never empty.

With Jim on guitar and Gerard on keyboards, the pair pelted out favourites from Stereophonics to Van Morrison, Creedance Clearwater Revival to Cold Play.

Queues crowded the stage as demand for requests escalated. And the versatile, talented pair, who seem to nail just about every tune, obliged.

Jim has the mastery of the guitar down to a fine art and as a soloist his voice thrilled the audience with old classics as well as modern hits.

The dulcet tones of Gerard captured the magic of the swing tunes which Michael Buble has helped revive.

The pair certainly know how to keep the audience captivated. Saturday night was a fantastic gig with rave reviews from many in the audience.

Black Gold has been together 30 years and are well known on the local circuit and beyond. No wonder as they certainly rocked the Railway Bar. If you missed them on Friday night, they will be playing there again on October 13.
