The Outlaws aim to prove a big hit at The Tannery

Following the success of their outstanding single ‘The Best Part of the Day is the Night’, the band have been enjoying a further bonus now that their follow-up ‘Hanging out, hanging in and barely hanging on’ is proving equally popular.

Singer Sean Hughes certainly has cause for satisfaction as he reflects on the band’s progress recently.

“Obviously we are delighted with the success we have been enjoying with the two records and it is now our hope to bring out a CD in the near future.

“There is tremendous interest in country dancing at the minute and we are particularly looking forward to performing at The Tannery this Friday night,” said Sean.

While they have been on the road for a number of years now, The Outlaws have lived in the shadow of some of the more high-profile country bands yet they have always enjoyed a measure of respect for adhering to their musical principles.

Their distinctive fiddle-based sound and wide repertoire make them a popular attraction at dances up and down the country and they have always managed to retain a strong presence in Ulster.

“We enjoy playing in this part of the world because audiences are so receptive here,” explained Sean, “There is always a great disparity in crowds too, especially in terms of age groups.”

The Tannery has already played host to several popular bands and The Outlaws are hoping to stamp their own particular imprint on this Friday night’s proceedings.

“We have been tweaking our dancing programme lately and we hope that the innovations we have made will prove a hit,” added Sean.
