Limerick’s Rubberbandits are going to Bed in Newry

THEY are the Irish band who have taken the music world by storm.

From two sold out shows at Electric Picnic, three sold out gigs in London and over five million views on YouTube (within a month!), to a plethora of appearances on RTE’s Republic of Telly, The Late Late Show and Joe Duffy’s Liveline, The Rubberbandits are connecting with thousands of citizens across Ireland and UK the way politicians can only dream about.

The Rubberbandits live show sees Blind Boy, Mr. Chrome and DJ Willie O’Dee Jay straddle the stage like tracksuit wearing demi-gods, singing songs about the glue that binds us together, jokes about snails, jocking horses, teaching ice cube how to swing a hurley and much, much more.

And while they were just pipped to the Irish Christmas number one spot by X-Factor’s Matt Cardle, the TV premiere of their hit ‘Horse Outside’ has been shortlisted for the Best TV Moment of 2010 Award at the Irish Film and Television Awards, held next month on 20 February.

But before that star-studded shindig The Rubberbandits make the journey north for their debut Northern Ireland performance as they bring their Dats Limerick City Tour to Bed in Newry on Friday 4 February.

Full line-up for the special Dats Limerick City Tour in Bed includes The Rubberbandits, Willie O’Dee Jay and Paul Webb. Doors open 10pm to late with admission £8 before 11pm and £10 after. Further information and details on group discounts is available on www.facebook.com/bednewry
