Home Rule series concludes

Ballymoney Borough Arts Committee’s local history talks which focuses on Home Rule – an issue which dominated Irish politics at the end of the 19th centuries and beginning of the 20th – concludes on Tuesday 26 November.

Following on from last month’s talk, in After the Big Meeting – Rare Birds & Changed Times, local historian S Alex Blair will try to assess the importance of the event by looking at how it was regarded at the time and how events developed in the year after it.

He will talk about an even bigger Unionist meeting which was held on 21 November 1913 in Ballymoney Town Hall. Unionism was asserting itself and continued to do so very effectively.

In a very different Ireland, we will see how a settlement was reached and how Home Rule came, but not in the way it was originally intended.

The talk takes place at 8pm in Ballymoney Town Hall and admission £2 includes refreshments.
