Dream setting for Shakespeare

Shakespeare’s literary classic, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, will come to life in Solitude Park later this month.

The park is set to become an enchanted world of magic and delight in the Banbridge District Council-presented play, to be held on Friday, July 26, at 7.30pm.

Performed by the world class Chapterhouse Theatre Company, Shakespeare’s best-loved romantic comedy, tells a bewitching story of love and mystery which will delight theatre lovers of all ages.

Hermia loves Lysander and Helena loves Demetrius – but Demetrius is supposed to be marrying Hermia.

When the Duke of Athens tries to enforce the marriage, the lovers take refuge in the woods and wander into the midst of a dispute between the king and queen of the fairies, however, the course of true love never did
run smooth!

Banbridge Council Arts and Events Officer Leah Duncan commented: “This free outdoor event offers a delightful opportunity for family and friends to spend some quality time together experiencing a rich cultural
experience.

“This is the fourth time we have staged a theatre production in the splendorous setting of Solitude Park, and once again we are hoping for the public to come along and enjoy this event in the magnificent numbers we have previously experienced.

“Everyone is welcome to pack a picnic and enjoy this wonderful performance under a beautiful summer evening sky.”

So let yourself be whisked away on a thrilling journey to the most magical of forests and meet star-crossed lovers, playful fairies and raucous travelling players in this charming tale for all the family.
