Country night of music and dance fundraiser

A fantastic night of Country Music and Dancing is in store in Banbridge next month, according to organisers of a fundraising Country Night of Music and Dance.

All proceeds from the event - taking place from 8.30pm sharp in the Parish Centre at Scarva Road on Wednesday, January 8 next year - will go to the Dementia Unit at Spelga Mews in Banbridge.

Spelga Mews is one of Fold Housing Associations’ Housing with Care and Support Schemes and cares for older people with dementia.

A spokesperson said, “A host of top names from the world of Country Music have signed up to appear on the night, which will be compered by well-known local man Barney Greene with backing band, Breakaway.

Artists who have agreed to provide their services free of charge include Boxcar Brian, Harry Convery, Trevor Dixon, Reggie Gilliland, Asbury Gents and Joe Moore.

“Everyone has been very generous and you’ll go a long way to find a better line-up of entertainment,” said one of the organisers . “The management, staffteam and residents of Spelga Mews are continuously trying to raise money for the Residents’ Comfort Fund.

“The evening will also include a raffle with some brilliant prizes up for grabs. A huge thank-you goes to the Parish Centre for providing the venue for the event. Thanks also for the support from local businesses andshops for their generosity in donating raffle prizes.”
