The Belfast Tattoo returns to Odyssey

Local bands will be included in the line up for this year’s Belfast Tattoo, which will be held at the Odyssey Arena on September 5 and 6.

Ravara Pipe Band, Aughintober Pipe Band, Manorcunningham Pipe Band (East Donegal), Bleary & District Pipe Band, Ballylone Flute Band, Cahard Flute Band, Churchill Flute Band, Hunter Moore Flute Band, who are celebrating their 130th anniversary, Murley Silver Band, who are celebrating their 90th anniversary and Dumgannon Silver Band will be joining a host of military bands for the Tattoo in September.

Taking centre stage will be the Pipes & Drums 1st Battalion Royal Irish Regiment, Pipes & Drums 2nd Battalion Royal Irish Regiment and the Pipes & Drums 152 (Ulster) Transport Regiment, Royal Logistics Corps.

Joining the line up will be visiting International Band, The Bagpipe Band, Lume De Biqueira from Madrid, as well as the Belfast Tattoo Highland Dancers.

The Belfast Tattoo 2014 will showcase some of the finest musicians and dancers from across Ulster and beyond, in a two hour show which will allow the Artistes and Bands to feature and showcase their talents.

The Musical Director for Pipes and Drums 2014 will be Derek Boyce.

Derek has joined Field Marshal Montgomery Pipe Band from St Laurence O’Toole Pipe Band, Dublin. He has also been a member of Cullybackey Pipe Band and Killeen Pipe Band.

As part of the Belfast Tattoo 2014, there will be a display of 30 Champion Drum Majors, under the control of Senior Drum Major Brian Wilson MBE.

The 30 Champion Drum Majors, drawn from all levels across competition grades, will put on a display never before seen in Ulster.
