A musical marriage at the Island centre

Iryna, who was born in Ukraine studied piano at the Prokofiev Music Academy, where, after graduating, she became professor of piano studies. She has received many top accolades including Winner of the Crimea International Piano Competition and Chopin International Competitions and is still in demand as a concert pianist. Iryna’s programme will include music by Beethoven, Rachmaninov and Chopin in addition to Liberace’s wonderful arrangement of Chopsticks.

Jonathan was a student of the late William Dunwoody and continued studies at the Royal Northern College of Music under the professorship of Peter Lloyd.

A former Northern Ireland ‘Young Musician of the Year’, his technique and tone are derivative of the French school of playing, and the clarity and expressiveness of his playing have delighted audiences in concert halls and on cruise ships throughout the world. Orchestrally, he has played with the Halle, London Symphony, the Royal Philharmonic, City of Birmingham Symphony and Ulster orchestras, under the baton of such esteemed conductors as George Hurst, Sir Simon Rattle and Daniel Barenboim.

Joining Jonathan on stage will be one of the rising stars of classical piano, Iryna Johnston. Born in Mariupol, Ukraine into a family of lawyers, Iryna broke the family tradition when she showed promising signs at an early age with her talents on the piano.

Iryna continues to perform throughout the world as a soloist and is increasingly well known for her solo piano recital performances with virtuosic repertoire including works by Liszt, Chopin, Mozart and Rachmaninov.
