7 of the best Valentine's Day meal kits, treat boxes and more available for delivery in Northern Ireland

Dining out in a fancy restaurant might be off the menu this Valentine's Day, but you can still celebrate the most romantic day of the year from the comfort of your own home.

Whether you have yet to arrange your Valentine's meal or you'd simply like to surprise someone special,  we take a look at what's still on offer, from meal kits and afternoon tea to treat boxes and more.

SHU at Home's Valentine's menu costs £35 per person.   With meals coming fully prepared and ready for the oven or pan, the menu includes home baked bread, salt and chilli prawns, and aged fillet steak with garlic potatoes and root vegetables.  For dessert, diners can enjoy a sumptuous raspberry mousse and handmade chocolates.

The menu is available for collection or delivery across Northern Ireland.

Benningtons Cakes 

This Lisburn-based bakery is offering a £25 Valentine's gift box containing six red velvet cupcakes, four chocolate orange brownies, four shortbread heart sandwich biscuits, and a chocolate slab which can be personalised with your chosen message.   A vegan Valentine's gift box is also available.

A £5 delivery fee applies for postcodes BT1-BT10 and BT26-BT28 between 11am and 2pm up until 13 February. Alternatively, you can choose contact-free collection from Wallace Village, Lisburn.

Focusing on produce from Northern Ireland, Localbox is offering a cook at home Valentine's dinner for two people, costing £40.  It includes Portavogie prawn cappelletti in a roasted shellfish sauce with fennel, accompanied by a side salad and garlic ciabatta.  The deal also includes date and caramel pudding for dessert.  Diners can choose to add a Valentine's cheeseboard, costing £11.

Delivery is available within the Belfast, Bangor, Holywood, Newtownabbey and Glengormley areas.

Hard Hat Catering

For a lighter Valentine's Day treat, try an afternoon tea box from Hard Hat Catering.  The boxes are £10 per person and include a range of sweet and savoury treats from sandwiches and scones to traybakes.

Delivery is available in the Belfast, Newtownabbey, Lisburn, Newtownards, Carrickfergus, Ballyclare and Antrim areas.

Oh So Lean

With a focus on fat-free, low calorie produce, Kilkeel-based Oh So Lean has not one, but two Valentine's Day meal deals available to order online.  Meal deal one costs £26 and features homemade country vegetable soup, two fillet steaks, mash, crispy onions and pepper sauce.  Meal deal two, costing £31, offers diners the option to swap the soup for crab claws or crab meat.

Delivery is available nationwide.

Cyprus Avenue

The Belfast eatery's Valentine's Banquet Box sold out when it was first launched at the end of last month, but another 20 have since been released on Cyprus Avenue @ Home.  Costing £60 per couple, the box is packed with delicious fare from teriyaki salmon and prawn skewers to crispy duck pancakes with poached plums, finished off with a bottle of fizz.  A vegetarian option is available.

Valentine's food hampers can also be ordered online from the Corner Shop at Cyprus Avenue.  Costing from £40 upwards, they feature a selection of local treats.

Delivery is available within a 10-mile radius of the restaurant on Upper Newtownards Road.

If you fancy cuddling up with a loved one and a good movie, Eat Well Catering has created two Valentine's grazing boxes that are perfect for snacking.  The Premium box, priced at £38, includes a range of treats from cured meats, cheeses, tapenade, grapes, strawberries, vine tomatoes, crackers, garlic king prawns and garlic bread, along with mini desserts, Ferrero Rocher, popcorn and dates.  A smaller box can be ordered for £24.

The boxes are available for delivery across Belfast and the surrounding areas on the morning of 14 February.
