JOOLS Holland, OBE, along with his famous Rhythm & Blues Orchestra will make a welcome return to perform at The Waterfront, Belfast, on Thursday 11th October 2012.
Jools Holland was introduced to Glenn Tilbrook and Chris Difford at the age of 15; together they formed Squeeze and shortly afterwards were joined by Gilson Lavis (who had already played with, among others, BB King, Chuck Berry, and Max Wall) and who still drums with Jools. Up The Junction and Cool For Cats gave Squeeze meteoric success and they toured the US including a performance at New York’s Madison Square Gardens
In 1987, Jools formed The Jools Holland Big Band – comprising himself and Gilson Lavis. This has gradually metamorphosed into the current 20 piece Jools Holland and His Rhythm & Blues Orchestra, which consists of pianist, organist, drummer, three female vocals, guitar, bass, two tenor saxophones, two alto saxophones, baritone saxophone, three trumpets and four trombones!
As well as formidable live performances, Jools has maintained a prolific recording career, since signing to Warner in 1996, which includes the multi-million selling Jools and Friends series. Notable Friends have included Sting, Chrissie Hynde, George Harrison, Norah Jones, Eric Clapton, Dvid Gilmour, Bono, Joe Strummer, KT Tunstall, Robert Plant, Smokey Robinson, Peter Gabriel, Solomon Burke, and many more
With long-time guest vocalists, Ruby Turner and Louise Marshall along with the inimitable musicianship of the Rhythm & Blues Orchestra, Jools Holland will perform tracks spanning his entire solo career, as well as songs taken from his last album Rockinghorse, which was released in November 2010.
Jools and the Rhythm & Blues Orchestra play over the world and they continue to dazzle audiences in excess of 300,000 each year – be sure not to miss this fantastic night out on Thursday 11th October 2012
