Something for everyone at Council Culture Night

Armagh City, Banbridge, and Craigavon Borough Council's 2016 '˜Culture Night' has just been launched and takes place on Friday September 16 in various locations around Armagh City and District.

On this, its fifth year, Culture Night promises to bring Armagh City and District alive with a buzz unrivalled during the rest of the year.

A jam-packed and vibrant programme of over 80 events featuring theatre and drama, dance, visual arts, talks and tours, exhibitions, music, workshops, storytelling, folk displays, craft and much more will take place in The Market Place Theatre, Armagh, throughout Armagh City Centre, and across the district including as ever a wide programme of events in Poyntzpass. All events are free and open to all age groups.

Events will commence on Friday September 16 from as early as 3.15pm with Irish language children’s storytelling and nursery rhymes in Armagh City Library. Armagh Harps Club will open its doors from 5pm with traditional Irish music and a photographic display.

Over 80 events then run between 6.00pm and 11.00pm in 20 venues across the City & District.

A full programme is now available and some of the highlights include: Take a tour of The Church Of Ireland Cathedral and Crypt; Prepare for fun, chaos and lots of energy with DU Dance as they perform in Armagh Shopping Centre; Armagh County Museum bring their ‘Museum In A Box’ to The Market Place for plenty of hands-on learning; Watch local talent at work as woodwork, silver jewellery, paper artistry and visual artists bring their creations to life; Artist exhibitions by the WAVE Trauma Centre, Patrick Hughes, Jack Doherty, and Armagh Art Club; Listen to the elaborate, skilled and fantastic Armagh Rhymers as they roam the streets of Armagh with their unique musical style.
