Rock the meadow and keep '˜er country at Linenfields Festival

Riverside Meadow in Banbridge will once again be the home of the two day Linenfields Music Festival in August.

Bands and musicians will ‘rock the meadow’ behind the Bannville Hotel during the festival on Friday August 5 and will be ‘keepin’ er country on Saturday August 6.

The Festival was launched last week at Stormont by Upper Bann MLA Jo-Anne Dobson, who was delighted to host the launch as one of her first engagements since the election.

The first day of the festival will be headlined by Flash Harry, who will be playing the music of Queen.

The band will be joined by the ultimate Bon Jovi tribute act Con Jovi, who also performed at the launch event.

Completing the Friday line-up will be Northern Ireland rock quartet Screaming Eagles, who have shared a stage with the likes of Airbourne, UFO, Black Star Riders, Blue Oyster Cult, and The Answer. Whilst the Friday is all about rock, the Saturday of the festival is taking on a much more country vibe.

This year’s featured artists, include some of the top names from the country music scene; Dominic Kirwan, Mike Denver and Hugo Duncan. So get yer dancin’ boots on and grab a partner for this year hoedown.

There will be food and refreshment stalls on the festival site, as well as a fully licensed bar.

There is also parking for over 1,000 vehicles.

Commenting local Ulster Unionist MLA Jo-Anne Dobson who hosted the Stormont launch event said: “It was an honour for me to host the launch of the second Linenfields Festival.

“Last year’s event was a fantastic success for Banbridge and I commend the organisers for all that they are doing.

“Banbridge has a rich and world-renowned heritage with our linen industry.

“There could be few better settings for a music festival than the Linenfields in the town land of Lenaderg, in the parish of Tullylish.

“Last year’s Festival was a massive success for Banbridge and saw over 1,500 people taking part over the two nights. The fun family atmosphere and the economic boost to the surrounding area were very clear for all to see.

“I commend Milltown Rural Development Association on their objective of making Lenaderg synonymous with good music, entertainment, family fun and an annual successful weekend that should be marked in everyone’s diary! It certainly is in mine!”
