Givan visits Banbridge Hockey Club

Sports Minister Paul Givan was in Upper Bann on Thursday, where he visited the Lurgan, Portadown, Gilford and Banbridge areas to hear about the work of local sports clubs on grassroots sport.

He visited Lurgan Rugby Football and Cricket Club, Portadown Bowling Club, Dunbarton Bowling Club in Gilford and Banbridge Hockey Club, where he met with representatives and toured the facilities.

The Minister said that he was delighted to be in the area.

He said: “I want to thank my colleagues David Simpson MP, Sydney Anderson MLA and Carla Lockhart MLA for their invitation to Upper Bann.

“This has been an excellent opportunity to see the good work going on at several local sporting clubs. The clubs reflect a diverse range of sports, each providing opportunities for exercise and recreation - across the generations and all abilities.

“They should be rightly proud of the very positive impact they are having on their members and the communities they serve.”
