SIR Jackie Stewart did it, Jenson Button has just done it and now Will Buller will want to do the same.
The 17 year old from Scarva has signed for British Formula 3 team Hitech Racing. The two aforementioned gentlemen are ex-F3 drivers who have gone on to reach the pinnacle of motorsport and be crowned Formula One World Champion and there is no doubt that the long term aim for the teenager will be to achieve the same.
MSA Team UK member Buller makes his move into British F3 after two years of competing in Formula BMW and has already displayed race-winning pedigree in Formula 3 machinery with victory at Interlagos in Brazil over the winter. Despite being just 17, the rising star heads into the season as one to watch and with his focus firmly on the championship crown.
Will, who started racing karts at the age of 12, is stepping up to British F3 after success in junior formulae; he was 10th overall in the Formula BMW Europe series in 2009. Hitech’s drivers finished second and third in the championship last year.
"I had two difficult years in Formula BMW, but they have really helped me to improve as a driver and I am ready for the new challenge," he said. "I spoke to Ryan [Sharp, Hitech team boss] about F3 and he explained what Hitech were doing and when I drove the car, I found it really suited my style. The whole team wants to push to be successful and I believe they are the best team to be with.

"Winning in Brazil was a huge boost to my confidence and means I can hit the ground running this year. My focus is fully on taking that success into the new season and winning has to be the aim."
His capture has been warmly welcomed by boss Sharp. "Will and Gabriel Dias signed up early for the programme and have shown their speed in the car already. They are working well within the team and I feel the work we are putting in will be to good use with them,” he said.
Buller enjoyed an encouraging debut in the international motorsport arena this week when he tested his new Formula 3 car for the first time.
He was taking part in a two-day test session at the Snetterton circuit in Norfolk for the Cooper Tires British F3 International Series, the 30-race championship for the Grand Prix stars of tomorrow.
Buller went well throughout the two-day Snetterton test, ending the sessions with the sixth-best time overall, well ahead of his Hitech team-mates. "It's gone really well," said Will, "and I've learned a lot from it. I am looking forward to testing at Rockingham next week."
