West Down Wheelers to host an evening with cycling legend

WOULD all members of West Down Wheelers please note that January 14 is the date for an evening with former F.B.D RASS winner and one of the country’s best riders in his day, Tommy Evans.

This is the new date and all members are asked to come along for good advice on training, nutrition, and preparing for a race.

Also the Tour Of Down is fast approaching and you would need to get some miles in the legs if you haven’t already.

There are two runs this year - the A run which is the same as last year - Katesbridge, Castlewellan, Kilkeel, Rostrevor, Yellow Water, Castlewellan, and back to Katesbridge (65 miles).

The B run goes to Castlewellan, Newcastle, up Bryansford coming out on the A runs course near Hilltown ,turning right for Castlewellan and same road home as the A run (just over 40 miles).

Both runs will be marked and back up services for breakdowns. Davy has asked that all outstanding monies be paid as soon as possible as he wants it all cleared up before season starts.

Club runs are on going and with some new riders and a few members back racing again this year its looking very good for the Wheelers, club photo man Geoff Toal is producing some very good enlargements of riders so get in touch with him if you would like one of yourself.

Also Davy will be taking orders for anyone looking new club clothing for the start of the year. It seems that most of the riders can’t wait to the season starts especially the new and newer riders. Club chairman Billy Maxwell says the club has improved alot the past two or three years and looks like it has again this year.

”We believe we will get into the 30s in club racing for the first time ever. Anyone who rides a bike and would like to have a go at racing then get in touch you will be made more than welcome we have riders of all standards.or log unto www.westdownwheelers.com to find out more or check on are facebook.
