U9s complete development games

BANBRIDGE Town U9s completed their development games on Saturday for the season and finished on a high with two superb wins.

In their first game Banbridge played some fine football against a very strong physical opposing team and soon found themselves trailing by a goal in the early stages.

With Banbridge relying on goalkeeper Toby Jones and the defence of Calum Kermath and Lee Whitten early on to keep them in it Banbridge soon mounted an attack and equalised when Ryan Meara crossed for Adam Hamilton to find the net.

This goal seemed to spur Banbridge on and they took the lead when Owen Wilson’s effort was saved only for midfielder Patrick McGrath to drill home the rebound.

Banbridge started to take control of the game particularly in midfield where Wilson Meara and McGrath were starting to put their stamp on the game. Banbridge made the final score 3-1 when Adam Hamilton thumped home a superb freekick to leave the keeper with no chance.

In their second match the Juniors again found themselves up against strong opposition and just like their first match they trailed by a goal early on. In a very tight game where there wasn’t much between the teams the introduction of the skillful Josh Kerr helped Banbridge and it was Josh who equalised when he poked home a Hamilton cross.

The Juniors took the lead when this week’s man of the match Adam Hamilton skipped through to fire low into the bottom corner.

They soon made it 3 1 when another thumping effort from Patrick McGrath was saved by the goalkeeper only for Jack Murray to react the quickest to find the net.

Towards the end the opposing team started to attack but the back three of keeper Toby Jones and the defensive duo of Lee Whitten and Calum Kermath stood firm to leave the final score 3-1.

Another two fine displays by Banbridge as they played some fantastic football and they continue to improve as they work hard in training and on match days.
