U16s bounce back from Shield loss

TOWN Juniors Under-16s were hoping to bounce back straight away after the disappointment of their Shield final defeat to Glentoran.

They started the match on the front foot and on ten minutes Michael Jordan hammered the ball into the bottom corner from just outside the box to go 1-0 up.

Town had the majority of the possession in the first half but were unable to significantly threaten the Greenisland goal before the break.

Town knew that a second goal would ensure the win. Josh Cargin assisted Ryan Williamson who came close to doubling Town’s lead midway through the second half only to be denied by the opposing goalkeeper.

Finn Campbell almost made it two after a great through ball by Josh Cargin, but was controversially ruled offside, however Finn Campbell managed to get on the scoresheet two minutes from time as he headed the ball from a corner into the back of the net. These three points move Town back to the top of the league.
