BANN 3-0 Belfast Harlequins: Banbridge started strong with an early goal after Josh Peacock intercepted a ball and passed to Nathan Liggett who found Ryan Jordan unmarked in the circle.
The next goal came from a well worked short corner where Scott Watson found Sam Green at the post.
Belfast Harlequins were quick to attack on the restart but Bann’s keeper John Wilson dealt with the shot and Ben McConnell was solid in defence finding Peter McKnight and Jake Rowe in the midfield who continued to cause problems for the opposition.
Another attack from the Belfast side was dealt with calmly by captain Sam Green supported by Scott Watson who found Matthew Graham in the opposing 25 and a deflection by Corey Large made it 3-0.
Bann 4-1 Raphoe: This match saw excellent midfield play from James Brown and Jake Rowe and with a forward line upo of Nathan Liggett, Ben McConnell and Ryan Jordan, three short corners were won but only the third corner caused any danger, being saved on the line by the Raphoe defender.
Scott Watson was also denied after a solo run form the defensive 25. Another onslaught of shots from the Bann team were saved by the keeper until eventually a particularly impressive passing game involving Josh Peacock, Jake Rowe, Nathan liggett found Ben McConnell in the circle who slotted the ball past the keeper.
At this stage the flood gates opened with a second goal from Ben McConnell and a third from Rory Kelly. The only defensive error of the day allowed the Raphoe centre forward to have a clear shot at goal.
This made the bann team more determined and an amazing solo run by Peter McKnight ended in goal number 4.
Bann 5-2 Portadown: Bann at this stage were on fire. The passing game was well and truly established and within 20 seconds the first goal was scored by Matthew Graham.
Soon after a short corner was won by Peter McKnight and although Jake rowe’s initial shot was well saved, Jake made no mistake with the rebound.
James Brown stole the ball from the Portadown restart and elegantly beat three players to find Nathan Liggett in the circle.
Portadown then raised their game but Lee Groves in defence remained calm to clear the ball to Scott Watson and then to Rory Kelly who found hit the backboard for the second time today.
Good play from Portadown followed which resulted in a goal and soon as a result of Bann not releasing the ball early enough a second goal was scored against the away side. eter McKnight returned to the pitch and caused problems for the ports finding Rory Kelly free to slip the ball to Ryan Jordan for goal number five.
This performance today is a credit to the hard work the boys put in at training both at school and club and without doubt this squad of players will most certainly impact on the club in future.
