Town Juniors U15s beat Lisdrum United 7-3 in the Mid Ulster League on Saturday.
The Juniors got themselves in front in the very first minute. Owen Byrne played in Jonny Rodgers, who ran in and slotted home to begin what would be a fruitful afternoon.
The Juniors went 2-0 up on ten minutes when Rodgers turned provider, playing through Simon McAllister who scored from a difficult angle when he looped the ball up an over the keeper’s head. They bagged a third goal on 20 minutes when Caleb Schiess met a low cross with a cheeky back-heel.
Lisdrum did manage to get a goal back seven minutes from the break when the Juniors were caught napping. Almost immediately, Town hit back when captain Owen Byrne went on a marauding run down the left and smashed a cannon of a shot into the net to make it 4-1.
The Juniors were rampant and Jake Dennison added a fifth after he met Owen Byrne’s cross with a deft flick that directed the ball goalwards. Lisdrum managed to grab another goal right on the stroke on half time but Caleb Schiess scored a sixth goal from six yards after some neat passing play through the heart of the Juniors midfield.
Frank McCartan, Ethan McDonald and Liam Farrell carved their way up the pitch with some mouth watering football with resulted in goal number seven, Liam Farrell curling in from the edge of the area.
Lisdrum were awarded a late penalty which they converted despite a strong hand by keeper Conor Ward. Man of the match was commanding center back Michael Rafferty, whose tackle and general display was a class apart.
